I did a switch with Ms Parent today for the first part of the morning. I went to her class to teach them a watercolor lesson, and Ms Parent began The Seven Teachings, based on the Cree Teachings. Today, students focused on the buffalo and respect, what it looks like, and what students can do to be respectful towards themselves, others, and their environment that the move and exist in. After recess, we continued on with The One and Only Ivan, which was followed by math. We reviewed our task from last week, comparing 26 and 206, and considering why the “0” is important. Today, we did a side trip looking at expanded numbers, how they relate to place value, and then we created a little accordion visual to help them understand it better. They were very excited to learn this trick, and they are even more excited to show and teach you tonight. After lunch, we began our class’s watercolor project, which we will finish up tomorrow. Gym got the blood pumping, and then we finished off the day with finishing up the Respect page in the buffalo illustration, reflection question, and the web brainstorm. Cheerios!
